The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs was established to provide the postdoctoral community university-wide with information, training, mentoring and services in support of professional and career development as well as guidance to postdoctoral scholars, departmental staff and faculty on postdoctoral appointments, policies and benefits. As part of the academic mission of The University of Texas at Austin, we are committed to recruiting, employing and supporting highly qualified postdoctoral scholars with a wide range of backgrounds, ideas, viewpoints and fields of study.
We collaborate with offices and stakeholders across campus, including academic departments, faculty and career services to support postdoctoral scholars as they prepare for their future careers. We also advocate on behalf of postdoctoral scholars through other services such as human resources, ombuds and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) to provide administrative support.
Mission
The mission of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is to enhance, support and promote postdoctoral training at the university through coordinated programming and services.
Vision
Our vision is to provide our 500-700 postdoctoral scholars across campus with a sense of community, opportunities for professional and career development and centralized human resource and policy information.
Specifically, we strive to:
- Create opportunities to build community both among postdocs and with the larger university community
- Provide career and professional development programming to enhance their scholarship and career goals
- Provide and ensure access to standardized central resources for all policies and benefits pertaining to postdoctoral scholars at the institutional level
