Please join us for a workshop on Highlighting the Details of Your Work in a Meaningful Way – Using Improv to Improve your Pitch. Improv arm researchers with tools to break away from the traditional, jargon-filled presentations and embrace more accessible communication methods that involved articulating complex scientific concepts in a clear and relatable manner. The rules of improvisation offer valuable insights into enhancing networking within your academic circles, including colleagues and supervisors.

Facilitating this workshop will be Jo Chauvin. Jo has been studying and performing improv since 2008 and has been teaching the artform since 2014. She noticed such an exponential increase in confidence, teamwork, and presentation skills in her theatrical improv students that she began using some of the techniques in her role as a career coach. This led to designing and teaching targeted workshops for career services professionals, businesses, and conferences. She has an MS in Management and Leadership, and her capstone project was about incorporating applied improv into employee training for communication effectiveness.

Thursday, April 23, 2026, 11:00am-12:30pm in the Texas Union Quadrangle Room. Lunch will be provided.
