What is the SCOARE workshop?
In this workshop, you will learn best practices and strategies for helping trainees develop their scientific speaking and writing skills, which have been shown to increase their commitment to research careers. Topics include practical strategies for mentoring younger scientists, such as giving effective feedback, coaching writing, speaking and presenting, and fostering motivation and productivity. The six-hour workshop is conducted over two online sessions, each lasting three hours.
What are the expected outcomes?
The workshop will focus on practical mentoring strategies you can use in your mentoring immediately that are effective, efficient, and accessible to mentors.
How do I participate?
The workshop is currently being offered as two, online, three-hour sessions and is limited to 25 attendees. You must be able to attend both sessions.
- Session 1: Tuesday, April 7, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
- Session 2: Thursday, April 9,1:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
*The complete workshop consists of two separate sessions (same time both days).
