Mastering the Hidden Curriculum: Influence, Presence and Networking for Grad Students and Postdocs Wednesday, Nov. 5, 10-11:30 a.m., Patton Hall (RLP), Glickman Conference Center, 1.302, Late breakfast/early lunch will be provided
This event is co-hosted by the Office of Career and Life Design and College of Liberal Arts.
Presented by Omar Abdullah, in this session graduate students and postdocs will get comfortable with the parts of professional life that no one really teaches: influence, presence and connection. We’ll explore how to read the room, communicate your value with clarity and confidence and build genuine relationships in a way that feels authentic and non-cringey. It’s practical, interactive and a little bit fun, built around real stories and tools you can start using right away. Omar is a business development expert and interdisciplinary scholar with a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, who consults across industries and teaches, trains and speaks nationally—bringing warmth, clarity and a touch of humor to every setting.
