The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs hosted more than 100 postdocs at the UT System Postdoctoral Research Symposium on Monday, September 14. The event included several speakers, workshops, an interactive poster session, awards and a reception to conclude the day.
The symposium promotes postdoctoral research contributions and fosters collaboration between postdoctoral scholars, principal investigators and leaders across the University of Texas System. Postdocs gathered from across the UT System, including UT Arlington, Austin, Dallas, El Paso and Rio Grande Valley.
The symposium featured keynote speaker Mellie Price, a recognized educator, thought leader and public speaker specializing in innovation and entrepreneurship, along with a workshop facilitated by Dr. Jim Gould, Director of Postdoctoral Affairs at Harvard Medical School.
Poster Session Awards
Postdocs presented their research during a poster session, and several winners were announced before the reception. The winners span across the UT System.
First Place Winner: Robert Domeyko – UT Austin, Rare deglacial-aged corals point to weaker El Niño in a colder world.
Second Place Winner: Sara Abu-Aridah – UT San Antonio, Sociodemographic and Geographic Disparities in Applied Behavior Analysis Utilization Among Medicaid and Commercially Insured U.S. Children with Autism.
Third Place Winner: Tawsif Rahman – UT Austin, Sustainable Thermal Pretreatment of Municipal Sewage Sludge using Geothermal Energy: Role of High Pressure in Sludge Transformation and Methane Production.
People’s Choice: Sara Abu-Aridah – UT San Antonio, Sociodemographic and Geographic Disparities in Applied Behavior Analysis Utilization Among Medicaid and Commercially Insured U.S. Children with Autism.
