In this workshop, DSA members discuss ways in which earl career faculty can work with departmental leadership, mentors, and peers to identify engaging opportunities and avenues of service that best suit the faculty member’s interests and career goals. *Open to Early Career Fellows and Faculty Only*

Registration is required to attend this event. Interested in practicing English or another language? Join a Language Circle! You can participate either as a language learner or Language Circle Leader. Leaders don't need to be fluent or even advanced, they will just facilitate meetings with other students interested in practicing the same language. We commonly have language circles for Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, and English, just to name a few, but we’re always looking for advanced speakers of ANY language that want to enrich the experience of our diverse campus community. It’s a great chance to learn terms and phrases that aren’t typically covered in formal language classes. Each participant will be allowed to order a single drink OR food item from the nearby Lucky Lab coffee shop!

Kaitlyn Kroeger, CPA, will lead a seminar covering the most common income tax issues for domestic graduate students and postdocs. Due to the complex nature of international tax filing, this workshop will not offer detailed guidance for international students. Topics will include tax preparation resources, forms that domestic graduate students typically receive and file, tax treatment of RA/TA wages, scholarships and fellowships and education-related expenses.
